Food Event Reactions: Annual Trends & Rates by Age Group
Counts and rate-normalized trends for five reactions, shown by age group .
Introduction
This report shows annual trends for five frequently discussed reactions in FDA CAERS food events — Diarrhoea, Nausea, Headache, Choking, and Dyspnoea. For each age group, the first chart plots counts of distinct event×reaction pairs per year. The second chart normalizes those counts by the number of events reported in that age group and year (rate per 1,000 events), helping separate real signal from overall reporting volume.
Scope: all available events. Age groups are Children (0–12), Teens (13–17), Adults (18–64), Seniors (65+).
Children (0–12) — Counts & Rates

Teens (13–17) — Counts & Rates

Adults (18–64) — Counts & Rates

Seniors (65+) — Counts & Rates

Counts reflect distinct FoodEvent×Reaction pairs. Age was normalized to years from reported units; events without usable age were excluded. Rates are per 1,000 total events in the age group for that year.
